Quotable Moments
โโMarketing is not the hard part today. What's separating you today and what's separating us today is closing the appointments because it's so expensive to get the data, right, to source it, to get a hold of it, and get in the door.โ
โโIt's not just what you say. And it's not even how you say it. How you say it is really important too. But why are you saying it that way? Because this is a fine edge business.โ
โโWe can give away the farm, but it's execution. At the end of the day.โ
โโWe have an opportunity to help even more people. We can do big, big things and set a bigger impact. Because if we can help more wholesalers, entrepreneurs become successful, like, if we can help, you know, twenty, thirty, 50 people at a time. Right. Each person that we help can help even more people.โ

Steve Trang: Hey, everybody. We're back. Yes, sir. So, Max and I, we were just in New Orleans for Chris' event at Yes. Skillathon Right.
Which is pretty cool. And we had a lot of takeaways from it. So do you wanna talk about, like, one
Max: of your biggest takeaways from that event? Yeah. I think, for me personally, anyways, I think just being around individuals that are doing higher level stuff. Right? Not only are they doing higher higher level stuff, but how genuine they are and what they're doing to give back to the community.
And for me personally, you know, being around them kinda, you know, was an eye opening experience because even though you're at a certain level, like, there's other levels that you can go to to have that success and impact more people
Steve: Yeah.
Max: At the same time. I think that was that was very encouraging to see and then how well, you know, uniformly everybody, you know, flowed together. Right? There was no different messages, especially at especially with those, individuals that are that are up in that, you know, higher echelon, you know, and
Steve: and they're in a big place. Totally different stratosphere.
Max: Yeah. Exactly.
Steve: And so I think that's one of the things that, you know, I've been able to enjoy. So I've been licensed you know, I've been in real estate since 2007. Mhmm. But I didn't really get into coaching until around 2011. Right.
And so for me, you know, once I got into coaching, that's when my business took off. That's when I went from being, what I thought was a solopreneur. I wasn't, but I thought that I was. Right?
Max: Mhmm.
Steve: That's when I took it took me from going from someone that had to chase the next deal, chase the next deal, chase the next deal Right. To, like, holy crap. I own a business.
Max: Mhmm. And
Steve: not only do I own a business, I have people that are responsible for me. And so for me, back then, when I first got into coaching, that's when I got to see, like, the real, real big players and do what they're doing and the massive kind of volume of transactions they were doing. And so I think that was the first time that, you know, you were at an event where because I'm not trying to take away from, you know, any of our friends. Like, our friends are doing really, really well.
Max: Oh, yeah. Right.
Steve: And they're and they're kicking their butts. Oh, yeah. Right? Hands down. But we got to see, like, another echelon.
You know? These are guys that are like, one of the guys just sold his business for a $100,000,000.
Max: Right. Correct. Correct. And I think that's really not like you said, not to take away from, you know, other events went to. And like you're saying, our friends are doing really well, kicking our butts.
Yeah. But just to see different point of views from because this was not all real estate. That's kinda you know, we wanna we wanna emphasize that it wasn't all real estate. So Right. Yeah.
Steve: And so one of the things that, there's two takeaways from me. One is I gotta start thinking bigger. And I already thought I'm a pretty big thinker. I already thought I'm a pretty big, you know, visionary and so on, but I gotta think even bigger. So, the biggest takeaway, if you guys watch the round table, at the mastermind after the event Yeah.
If you guys had a chance to watch it, like, my biggest takeaway is that we have an opportunity to help even more people.
Max: Correct.
Steve: Yeah. Right? We can do big, big things and set a bigger impact. Because if we can help more wholesalers, entrepreneurs become successful Mhmm. Like, if we can help, you know, twenty, thirty, 50 people at a time.
Right. Each person that we help can help even more people. Yeah. You know, so helping 20 people and they help 20 people, that's 400 people
Max: Yeah.
Steve: That we can directly impact.
Max: Yeah. That's huge. That's really huge. So, paying it forward.
Steve: And so, you know, that's one of the reasons that we started the that we create that we we we made the workshop. But now it's a great reminder, like, why it's so important that we do it and we do it well.
Max: You know, one of the things I do wanna add, you know, because you've been to more events than I have. And the couple that I've been to, you know, have slingshot me, you know, forward every single time because each one provides something different. I'll give an example. When I got into real estate late twenty fourteen into 2015, I went to one particular here in Phoenix, and I kinda share this with you how the next six months after that event, I went into completely, you know, a mode of just, tuned everything out. Right?
So So those six I think we're talking about this yesterday. And, you know, that slingshot me to get into self development more than I ever had. You know, the event, the second event that we went to, you know, same thing. Every time that you go, it gives you a different perspective where you need to level up. Yeah.
So they do help, and they've helped me slingshot my my my career, you know, and push me. And I think you can probably attest to that too as well. 100%.
Steve: So, I wanna yeah. So when we're talking about announcement, we just wanna talk about what we're gonna be going over because, for those of you for those of you that don't know, we're doing our workshop January 10 to January 12 in Scottsdale. Right. And the things we're gonna go over are things that have helped us with our business. And, again, we're not gonna sit here and tell you we're doing a 100,000 a month.
We're not. Right? Right. But we can tell you that we're doing really well in arguably the toughest market in the country. Yep.
And we're gonna tell you what we're doing, how we're how we're able to close close as
Max: many
Steve: deals as we're doing. Yeah. So the first thing is, and you guys probably heard me say this before, marketing is not the hard part today. Right? Every business is sales and marketing, but marketing is not the hard part today.
Right. If you wanna pull a list, you have to go all you have to do today is just go to BatchLeadStacker, PropStream, PropertyRadar Yeah. List source. Right? You can get the data.
Getting the data is not the hard part. Right. And you can skip trace the data. So, a year and a half ago, when Max and I partnered up, we created a debt collection company so we can do bulk skip tracing. Yep.
Yep. Today, you just go to batchskiptracing.com.
Max: Yeah. It's there.
Steve: And you got it.
Max: Yeah. And what's cool is yeah. I mean, these systems are incredible. I mean, we batch lead stacker. I mean, you know, you it's a one stop shop right now.
Yeah. You know, it wasn't like that before.
Steve: Right. Exactly. So marketing is not the hard part today. Yeah. Alright.
You can get the marketing done. You can watch these videos and and get you know, become, like, an eight eight eight or nine out of 10 level Yeah. In marketing, you know, watching the podcast. But what's separating you today and what's separating us today Mhmm. Is closing the appointments because it's so expensive to get the data, right, to source it, to get a hold of it, and get in the door.
And it's you cannot afford to not close those appointments. Exactly. And so for that reason, what we're focusing on the first day is how to make sure that you're winning the appointments because it's not just what you say. Because a lot of people thought, about, you know, the book of magic words. You know?
Like, what you need to say in this instance to win, to overcome the objection. And so it's it's not what you say it. Mhmm. And it's not even how you say it. How you say it is really important too.
But why are you saying it that way? Because this is a fine edge business.
Max: Yeah. It
Steve: is. And what's helping us win, if you guys have watched some of our stories, is these little things that we do. If you understand why we do it that way Yeah. It's gonna really set you apart.
Max: Yeah. Yeah. I think you and I talk about a little bit about this is that when we share things, right, on Instagram and I know you joke around and and it's all in fun, like, hey. You're giving away all our stuff. And and and and, you know, we love doing that, by the way.
And we just joke around between each other. And my one of my thing is what I usually say is, like, we can give away the farm, but it's execution. Right?
Steve: Yeah.
Max: At the end of the day, and it's a very good point that you bring that up, you know. And you can have the the book of magic words, but Mhmm. When are you gonna say those words? How are you gonna say them? And then at what you know, pretty much at what time.
So and that's something that we do go over the workshop. You know? It's not just systems like you're saying in marketing, but also once you get the systems and marketing's going, you know, how do I close these appointments? How do you know, where do what do I say to what, you know, what I need to say at what time?
Steve: Right.
Max: So that's actually cool, yeah, which I don't see a lot of workshops doing.
Steve: So it's not just, you know, having the screwdriver. Yep. And it's not how do you turn the screwdriver. It's knowing why the screwdriver is the right tool at the moment.
Max: Correct.
Steve: And so that's what we're talking about. That's day one. And then day two, we're gonna show you everything in our business. We're talking about every tool, every system, everything we do. You know, one of the things we're gonna break down, is our is our, profit and loss statement Yeah.
For 2019. Yep. Right? So we're gonna show you here's our line items. Here's what we did.
You mean a balance sheet? Profit and loss statement. Right? So we're we're gonna show you. You know, we're we're a 40% profitable company.
You can hear a lot of companies talk a lot of guys talking about how much they're making. We're gonna show you how we're keeping 40%
Max: Mhmm.
Steve: Of everything we of everything we make. Yeah. So, you know, so going through over the line, like, how to be a true business owner, looking at your p and l's Yeah. Recruiting, keeping your talent because just getting your talent in there is not is is just half the equation. Yeah.
Keep your talent. Yeah. And so we're gonna show you everything there is Yeah. In our business Yeah. From a to z.
Max: And and that's a good point. You know what? I know some of our friends share with us that, you know, we're the we're the only company that they see with the where where that our team members have stayed with us the longest and, you know, the retention. And we're gonna talk about that. Right?
How do we create that culture? How to create that culture and how to motivate the guys? Because that's a big issue in a lot of companies where that, you know, that revolving door. Right? And when you find killers and they either leave or things happen.
So that's the thing. That's that's really huge that a lot of these events don't actually break down, you know, how to create that culture and how to motivate guys and individually understand their personalities and, you know, what you know, how to look at that. So Yeah. That's awesome.
Steve: And then the third day, what we're gonna do is we're gonna show you how to implement it if you're having any challenges implementing. Because I've gone I've gone to seminars. I've gone to conferences where I've got three pages, five pages, seven pages of notes. Mhmm. And it's so overwhelming that I get home and the pages just the notes just collect dust.
They stare on the desk, on top of the desk Yeah. Collecting dust. So before you leave, we're gonna help you implement all of it. So anywhere you're stuck and as far as integration between this tool and that tool Mhmm. You're not gonna leave with, like, how do I do this again?
You're gonna leave with the your your Ferrari built out. I know a lot of Ferrari built out. I know a lot of Lamborghinis. A lot of gurus love their Lamborghinis. We're gonna show you how to build a Ferrari.
Yeah. I like sports car. Car. Right? That you're gonna have to run your business at a high level when you get back home.
Mhmm.
Max: Yeah. That's that's, and that happens that's just a half day by itself, you know, helping you implement. So the key point here is that even though, you know, this it's coming up here January, tenth, eleven, and twelve, is that we're not just trying to create an event like everyone else. Right? We wanna create a more intimate workshop where you come in with your laptop, get ready to learn sales skills, you know, and then we got some really, ninja guests that are gonna come as well too.
So it's not just me, just Steve and I, you know, and you're gonna come with your laptop. And, honestly, for me, I feel like it's one of those things where you come in and you leave and you're you're implementing a lot of this. You know? I think on our last workshop, we had guys doing deals with some of the things that we talked about on the sell side. You know, some of the system was cool to see.
I recorded my story. Yeah. But that's the beauty of it. Right? You come, you you participate, and then you leave, and you got a business in a box, and you already implement everything that you learned at those three days.
Steve: Yeah. I mean, the thing that I love hearing is guys are leaving our workshop, and they're and they're doing 30,000, 50,000. Yeah. I mean, one guy did 80,000, I think, in a month after he left our office Yep. Or after our our workshop.
I was like, man. That's, like, that's why we do Yeah. What we do.
Max: Yeah. And what's cool, just to kinda wrap this up a little bit, I don't know if we have any more to tell, but, you know, some of the affiliate people some of the affiliate, affiliates that we have, you know, you know, we got some people that just that's just started using their programs, and they're already killing it. You know, we got a couple members that I think one he's got a what a one of our one of the attendees that attended our workshop is he just got a, what, 30 or 40, what was it, it, locked up? $34,000 assignment fee or something? Oh, well,
Steve: I mean, one guy, I know we were just talking in fact, in fact, we were actually talking on the phone before I got here. Mhmm. So he locked up something up for 200, and he's gonna hotel it for $3.10. Jeez.
Max: That's freaking awesome, man. Yeah. Yeah. Yep. Cool, man.
Sounds
Steve: So that was it. That was our announcement. Just wanna share that with you. You know, it's really important to us, and we're even more inspired to do an even better job. Not that we would ever take it easy, but just after coming to the event, this past weekend with Chris Roode, Skillathon in New Orleans, just like, man, we have a responsibility Yeah.
To help as many people as we can. And that's that's that's our core mission right now. So Yep. You know, just comment below if you wanna find out more, and then, we'll send you some more information.
Max: Sounds Sounds good. Thank you, guys. Thanks, guys. Yep.
